Located on the campus of Xavier University of Louisiana (an historically black Catholic institution founded by Saint Katharine Drexel and the Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament) IBCS is the first and primary national center for the study of the Black Catholic experience.
This subcommittee of the U.S. Council of Catholic Bishops, attends to the needs and aspirations of African American Catholics regarding issues of pastoral ministry, evangelization, social justice, worship, development of leaders and other areas of concern.
