Here is a short video on how to search on a topic for qualitative and quantitative studies. Topic:

Breast feeding in the newborn and weight gain or weight loss.

How to create a search strategy in CINAHL.

 

1. On the opening page select "Any author is nurse"

2. In the search screen click Subject Headings at the top.

3. In the box type in Qualitative

4. You will see Use Qualitative Studies, and NO heading for quantative.

5. Click on Qualitative, and you will see a screen like this:

This screen tells you that Quantitative is not a subject heading, but use as key word in your subject search. 

 6. In this screen you will see in the right hand corner clicking those subject headings has added a search statement. Make sure you select Major Subject heading column under Qualittaive 2

7. Do the search. On the screen you get NOW add your topic and do the search. Screen 3
